Just 1.6 miles from our front door, Henderson Beach State Park is one of the best deals on the entire Emerald Coast. For just $6 per carload you get access to over a mile of stunning white sand beach, nature hiking trails, picnic areas, fishing spots, and biking paths. It's pristine, well-maintained, and never feels as crowded as the main tourist beaches.
This is honestly our number one recommendation for guests — especially families and anyone traveling with dogs, since the trails are pet-friendly. Pack a cooler, rent a bike, and make a full day of it!

🚢 Destin Harbor Boardwalk — Free!
The Destin Harbor Boardwalk is one of those places you could spend hours without spending a dime. Stroll along the waterfront, watch the fishing boats unload their daily catch, browse the shops, and soak in the Gulf breeze. Destin is famously known as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village" — and the harbor is where you really feel that history come alive.
If you get hungry, the food trucks along the boardwalk offer some of the most affordable bites in town. Come back in the evening for live music, a lively atmosphere, and some of the best people-watching on the Emerald Coast.

Destin sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico are absolutely breathtaking — and completely free. Head to Okaloosa Island Pier or the June White Decker Public Beach with a blanket and a snack and enjoy the show every single evening.

On Tuesday nights, head over for "Boomin' Tuesday," a spectacular fireworks show over the lagoon. Wednesday nights bring free live concerts showcasing local and regional talent.
Throughout the season there are also free outdoor movie nights, seasonal festivals, and quirky events like International Talk Like a Pirate Day — complete with costume contests and scavenger hunts. It's one of those places that's different every time you visit, and it never gets old.

Destin Commons is so much more than a shopping center — it's a full outdoor lifestyle destination right in the heart of Destin. It's particularly great on hot days when the kids need to cool off at the splash pad, or on evenings when there's live music in the central square. Check their events calendar before you visit — there's almost always something going on.
